HI i just heard that the Pal Version DVX 120B shoots only in 25p and not 24p.
I dont understand. They could make a camera that shoots 30p or 24p but they couldnt make a 25fps pal camera shoot in 24p ?? So what am i supposed to do to get it into 24pa ? Swallow one frame at the end of every second manually ? LOL. Also please tell me if im right when i think shooting 25p is not going to give me the same effect you guys are getting on 24pa. Or am i wrong. I wanted to buy the dvx102b after seeing what you guys have been doing with the dvx. I was impressed by the cam. Now i dont want to buy the dvx102b only to be told i bought the wrong cam which wont shoot 24pa and that 25p could never give the 24pa look. Plz help me here.

Why don't you just buy the DVX100b if you want 24p? The reason they make the PAL version is because in Europe they use PAL and that is 25 frames per second.

25p is so close to 24p that in Europe 24p isn't as big as in the US. 25p can be converted to 24p quite easily from what I have heard. Get the camera that suites your region! (unless your are planning on distributing internationally, in which case I would go with the Pal version for the extra resolution)

It's quite difficult to see the difference between 24p and 25p. A Salils said, if you're in pal land then I would purchase a pal camera.

You would never be able to tell the difference, and working with 25p is soo much easier than working with 24pn and 24pa. I love my 25p :D

Exept that 25p PAL looks better and is easier to work with than 24p NTSC. We are lucky to live in a PAL land!.

And do not forget that all moves are shown at 25 fsp in PAL television.

Hi all you guys.
Your right i live in pal land. So that means extra resolution.
I was only worried that 25p may not give the filmic look of 24pa.
But then this lands me up with a bigger doubt.
If 25p looks as good or better than 24pa. Then why would anyone talk about 24 fps. We would all be saying "get a pal camera" easier to work with ! and filmic look ! So why did 24 fps even come into the picture (no pun intended) ??

Ogrus > when did i ever say i was in europe ?? LOL.

In NTSC land they can fit 24 fps on a 30 fps (60i) datastream easier, and because they have to shoehorn it anyway, why not emulate 24 fps, the same as film?

In PAL tv all moves are shown at 25 fps anyway, so why not shoot it that way, too? Besides fitting 25P to 50i datastream is a no-brainer.

It always makes sense to buy a camera that confirms to local standards, exept that some NTSC shooters prefer PAL 25p for its better quality. Speed difference does not really matter.
