DVX 100B under $2400?

Hey I've got a question,
How can some of these .com companies advertise the DVX 100B
for $2100 - $2400?

It all seems on the up & Up from the outside.
...So what is it?
No warranty?
No Guts in the camera?
How can they do it?

I know that there has to be some kind of catch,
could someone please let me in on the scam.

Thanx,

That "Todd" Guy

They'll put a curse on your family name if you do not pay an extra $170 for the batteries and charger. You dont even want to know what happens when you question the $200 shipping charge on your next credit card bill

yah....u can have it for that price but you have to give your first born to the gypsies! is that really worth it to ya?

ah yes the famous crooklyn...u konw Barry i was there once, i got a great deal on a ZEnith 5ccd HD unit! AMAZING.

yes they are all scams. It doesnt mean that htye'll take your cash and not send u the product but they get u in differnet ways such as, mandatory purchase of extra items just to get the 2400 tag..but after all is done your purchase will be so expensive that you shoudl have gone with one of the more reputalbe sellers. We all want a deal, but we have to be smart and not get ripped off. If its too good to be true, IT IS!!! BUt like Barry said, call them up and see what they say. 5 bux the guy will pressure you right off the bat to buy it, lol

Thanx for all the reponses,
...you know...
there are some nights that giving up my first born would't be a bad idea

I have Barry's book on order...
but I still want to see how they can advertise a price and not honor it...
they can't make you buy extra's...
I'm gonna call them on it
I'm not gonna buy from them, but I just want to figure out their scam.

Before I call,
what is supposed to be included with the camera?

Don't even spend your time with it Todd - seriously.
In the end all it's going to do is either make you lose time, or lose money.
And you can do that right here on DVXUser without the risk of being ripped off.
:)

Seriously - check out the company on Reseller Ratings like Barry suggested. I imagine with a price like that, their score will be pretty low and they will have quite a few negative reviews that might make you think twice about taking the time to even call them.

It is a scam.
There is no way around it.

These guys can make you buy anything, **** that you dont need. There is a reason they are sales ppl, they are good at what they do. Dont fool yourself by thinking that you are strong against the Dark force! :D hahahaha
i hate STAR WARS quotes..etc..

I would echo what everyone else has said. Forget the dream of getting a dvx100b under 2500 without getting scammed. at least not for a few years..
Bite the bullet and go with B&H, they're the best in my humble opinion. I just orderd a dvx100a with a bunch of accessories just last week, and everything has been great with them; fast shipping, prompt confirmation of order, just a great company to work with.

I also noticed that either Videography or Videomaker (can't remember which one), allowed one of these crooked sites to advertise in their magazine. It was Broadway Photo, and when I checked with resellerratings.com, they had around a 1.8 rating out of 10. Does this in any way hurt the reputation of the magazine that the ad is found in? I know the magazine needs to pay the bills with their advertising, but shouldn't there be a strict standard of who they allow to advertise? Say, having a good rating with the general public?

oh yah and most video magazines do let these shady companies advertise

in my opinion the trusty companies are bh, eves, camera canada, leos i'm sure there are few more but here is a start

were all strugglin filmmakers and have no money etc, but sometiems u have to use your head a little and think about the big picture, you know. Paying few extra bux knowing that u'll get your gear or getting a deal and not knowing if u'll get it and when u do if its even covered by warranty. lol

When you ask, "Is this a US camera or Gray Market" they will give you the truth - it's Gray Market. Call and Ask ...
