DVX 100B or HXV 200 for television

If I am going to try to sell a 30 minute show to a small network, cable, or even mom & pop stations is HD a must or can I get away with shooting on a DVX 100 A or B? Explain?

What would be my rock bottom options as for quality (GL2, DV30 etc)?

DVXs are used extensively for cable TV production; David Thies came and spoke at the LA BootCamp about his experience shooting the Jamie Kennedy show and other shows for MTV on the DVX. I'm going to one of the largest cable networks at the end of this month to train them on their DVX's.

All local stations broadcast SD, almost all cable stations are currently SD-only, a few are SD & HD (like Discovery, ESPN, and a few others; I think I get about 8 HD channels here in NC). A couple of channels are HD-only, like InHD or HDNet. Pay channels are mostly HD and SD, like CineMax or HBO or ShoTime.

Remember all standard-def broadcasts in the US are done in 4:3; the only 16x9 broadcasts in the US are HD broadcasts.

So yes a DVX100 would be perfectly acceptable for local broadcast, local shows, local commercials, etc. When you go into larger networks or cable then you'll have to look to the particular stations for their submission requirements; some are fine with SD, some are requiring HD masters.

DVx would be enough for a Pilot. just make sure you hire a GREAT gaffer andDP. IF you can take dvantage of the DVX's best qualities, it will look quite amazing.
