DVX 100B / M2 experiences

I'm looking at purchasing the Redrock M2 for my DVX 100B. I'd like to hear experiences from individuals that have worked with this specific combo of gear. I'd like to hear the positive and the negative. If there are any issues that are common among users, I want to know.

I'd like to see as much sample footage as I can before I make my purchase. Most of the footage out there right now is shot with some form of HDV. I'm hoping that someone can point me in the direction of DVX100B/M2 footage. Hook a brother up!

I'm in a similar boat. Bout to get a M2 for my 100b but I don't know whether to get the HD or SD version. I know i'll be upgrading to the HVX within the next year hopefully.

The HD footage samples taken from the HVX look gorgeous. The 100b footage that I saw on the redrock site was ok but didn't really toss my noodles in terms of excitement.

I have to say that I feel the same way. The HVX footage shot with the M2 does look incredible. The DVX footage looks really good but when you see it with next to the HVX, the choice is easy.

If the HD M2 will work for you, I'd say purchase that.

My problem was, I did not have HVX money at the time of my DVX purchase. To be exact, I did not have P2 card money.

I've got corporate jobs lined up with my DVX so in the end the DVX will pay for itself (and hopefully all my other gear). I'm also working on shooting a few narrative shorts with my DVX for artistic (no profit) reasons. That's what I really want the M2 for.

My corporate work is pretty straight forward and clients aren't demanding a film look.

Hopefully, I'll be able to keep things rolling along, make some loot with the corporate work, shoot some M2 DVX shorts and eventually make the leap to the HVX within a year to 18 months.

hey guys. can't you use the m2 for both of the camers as long as you have a adaper ring for both of them

I ended up purchasing the HD version.

After searching on this site, i've found some good footage with the m2/dvx combo so it makes me feel better about my purchase. I've come down to the consensus that beautiful footage has a lot to do with user setup.

Hope u have many happy hours with your purchase. I have the SD version on my m2 and I love the footage. Maybe I would love it more with the HD version. I know one day I’ll plunk down the $300, but not today.:( Maybe i'll get a dvx first.... hmmm

I'm glad to hear you made a purchase. I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm just a little short on the funds.

What type of lenses are you going to use? What are some of the projects you plan on shooting?

I'm got the nikon mount. Eventually i hope to fool around with some prime lenses.

I plan to shoot a mock debeers diamond commercial for my friends that are getting married. Just a little something for them to show at their reception as entertainment. After that I want to do a couple quick 10 minute shorts. Maybe a mock music video or two.

I just want to dabble in all types of styles so I can practice and hone my shooting/editing skills to use in paying gigs later down the road.

I'm also trying to absorb as much as possible from this site and others as I am still relatively new to the world of videography.

G'luck with your decision red.
