DVX 100B Hour/Usage Counter

Hello all,

I'm brand new to the friend and I'm quite excited to be a part of this forum.

I'm planning on making a transaction with a guy tomorrow for the mildly used HVX100B.

He says that the camera has counted up to 268hours, but i want to make sure of that myself.

I have worked with other prosumer camera before but just to make sure im correct, how do i get to the usage/hour counter in the camera menu?

Hi, welcome to the forum. First off, there is not hvx 100. there is a dvx 100 or an hvx200. I'm gonna assume your talking about the dvx 100b. All you need to do is hit the menu button and scroll down to other options. (or something like that...its the last menu item). Once you open that (I think you hit in on the middle to open) scroll all the way down. It should show a listing of hours.

Other things to keep in mind:

Check that zoom control allows 3 different speeds by pressing harder or lighter in both zooming in and out.
with camera off, it should make a clunk if it it tipped backward or forwards. (this means the image stabilizer is ok)
Remove the lens hood...there should be a screw that lossens then you turn it to the left 1/8 and pull off.
See if there is a uv protector lens on it. It looks like this https://www.fumfie.com/data/products_accessories/624_1.jpg and is screwed onto the front of the cam. If so, grip the black rim and twist left to remove it.
check in the light that the lens(still on the camera) has no scratches.


If it does not have the uv protector lens thingy i would recommend getting one. They are around 10 -15 bucks. If you scratch that you can replace it cheaply. If you scratch the main lens your sending your cam to panny for an expensive repair. Basically is a 15 dollar lens cap that you leave on your cam.
