DVX 100B Future Rebates

We're saving money for a 100B and it looks like we will have the cash around March, was just wondering if it was worth it to just wait a little bit past March to see if there will be a new rebate or added stuff (tapes?) since I might risk losing some (Maybe it will go back to $300 rebate?)

I don't think the Panasonic rebate will stick around. IMO, it's just a temporary incentive for folks to get the camera. Although, dealers could start selling it for less on their own (without a rebate), such as with other older models.

Who knows? I think the DVX100B is a great deal, at half the price of the HVX2000.

If there's a new rebate, I would expect to see it in mid March, as the old $200 rebate was set to expire end of February 2006, they announced the new $400 rebate in the last week or so. Also, expect Panasonic to compete with all the used DVX's that are slowly coming onto the market as people upgrade to the HVX. Sales of the DVX aren't expected to surge for any apparent reason, as the market for this camera is already saturated. I only see the price going down. Also see the price of the HVX going down, too, which will pressure the DVX to fall in price. This is the commodities investor in me talking, as I have no emotional attachment to this camera. I'm sure there are a number of emotional folks out there that would disagree, and hate to see their beloved cameras decrease in value. Best price on this camera from a reputable dealer i know of is at buydig.com where you can get this camera for $2850 shipped after rebate.

Gentle Friends, heed my advice:

Keep on top of Panasonic for your rebate. Today is the last day of the sixth week deadline for my rebate check/DVX Book/Magic Bullet software. I have not received any of it. When I called Panasonic (spoke with Veronica who was great and very very helpful, by the way!) I was advised that my DVX Book and software had not been mailed yet! So much for 4 to 6 weeks! Although she was helpful, she had no idea why I had been overlooked. She did say that she thought the rebate check might have been mailed last Friday and would get back to me via phone for confirmation.

Although I am a bit disappointed that I had fallen through the cracks, and that if I had not called I probably would have been forgotten, I am happy at Veronica's and Panasonic's level of customer service after the fact. She did promise that Barry Green's book and the Magic Bullet software would be mailed out today. Just keep on top of things, consumers.

As for the camera, well, hell, I wish I had made the DVX the very first prosumer camera I had ever bought. This camera delivers everything it promises. Very very satisfied with the product.
