DVX 100b compatability

Hi. I'm based in Ireland and I'm seriously thinking of buying a DVX 100b. I was just wondering if the Panasonic tapes I'll use in the camera will play back on other decks, e.g. Sony. I want to make sure because if I'm shooting footage for broadcast or doing corporate work I want others to be able to work with the tapes on different machines. I'm sure that the camera and tapes are compatible with other makes of decks. I just want to be certain.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter.

Well, I shoot on a DVX100b & I use my PV-GS400 (a Panasonic too) for playback with out a problem. If you shoot in SP mode, I'm pretty sure most decks of proper working conitions will beable to play it back OK.

I use a Sony DSR 45 and a Sony GV 900 both NTSC and have no problems Peter, I would imagine the same would be true of their PAL machines

DVX100 in Ireland

Hi,
Saw your question was from Ireland so I thought I would answer from Ireland. Yes, if you record in Standard Play (SP) there should not be a problem. Where I work (Northern Ireland) we shoot on DVX 100s and play back on Sony DSR11s - we have been doing this for several years without any problems (we have been using standard TDK tapes with the students during this time and the heads on the five cameras and two decks have never been cleaned - no clogs to date!!!!).

Thanks very much for the replies. Your help is much appreciated. I didn't think there would be any problem playing the tapes back in other decks.

Peter.
