We just recieved our new DVX-100A and the iris is messed up. The dial wont respond and the camera just goes black the iris gets closed by itself and cannot be changed in manual iris mode. This was right out of the box....I turned off the camera and then when I fired it up again the problem was gone, I thought since it was the first time running it needed to adjust or whatever. Then today that same thing happened again, the iris keeps openeing/closing really fast and then closes, the dial doesnt respond, and after a while it opens...then the iris starts flickering again!
Anyone have similar problems? Do I have to set some setting?
Thanks for the help....

Re: Dvx-100A iris problems

Never had this problem before; are you sure you are not hitting the IRIS AUTO/MANUAL button?

Re: Dvx-100A iris problems

I have hit them and the auto button......nothing.....now the iris is closed and wont open, I think the electronics arent able to control it. :'(

Re: Dvx-100A iris problems

Sounds like it needs a trip to a repair facility or, if you bought it from an authorized dealer, you might be able to swap it for a new camera. I've certainly never seen or heard anything like that.

Just to be clear...

Hitting the IRIS button will bring up the status on the LCD reading MANUAL or AUTO IRIS. When in manual you have to MANUALLY turn the dial to open or close. Furthermore, you can program it to respond in either turning it up or down to suit your needs.

Lens cap is off? :P ::) Just checking.

Shutter speed set to normal?

ND off?

Just trying to help; damn you might have to do what Barry says. :-/

Re: Dvx-100A iris problems

Seeing as you're a new user, definitely follow what John's saying. Is the iris actually closed, or do you have the ND2 filter on, so everything just looks black? If the iris is actually closed, the word "CLOSE" will show up on your screen...

Re: Dvx-100A iris problems

Thanks for the help guys.....but I have tried everything, the shutter is off ,nd is off...the iris only works at open or close. Even with auto iris the f-stop is changing and you can see it on the lcd but it isnt effected it stays open. Then it closes/opens iradically and then eventualy stays closed.I think the electronics are faulty and cant control the iris. I'm Gonna have to send it in :(......Well thanks for the tips guys!
