honestly im not possitive, but i think its the time recording. either way, its the same on all dvx100s so itll give you a way to compare with others.
 
The hour meter records the time the heads are active. That includes the times that it's on , recording and Playing any tapes.
 
I still dissagree. I had mine on without a tape in it playing with the settings for a while and mine is at 2hours and I have only recorded max 10 minuits and played back 1 time so 20 min max on the head.......

If that was true then useing a FS-4 and no tapes would keep the hours at 0 if you used it from the start....... Dont think that is the case. Someone please confirm......

That is correct, the hour meter records the drum time, so that means recording, pause, and playback. Direct to disc recording doesn't affect the hour meter.
