Hey All-
I found a website with a new DVX 100 tutorial DVD. www.birnsandsawyer.com The DVD is 50 bucks. Has anyone ordered it? Is it worth the 50 bones? Are there any copies of it out there? I would be interested in any feedback.
thanks
Brian

Re: dvx 100 tutorial dvd

I hear that it is pretty much nothing more than you'd get from reading the manual.

Re: dvx 100 tutorial dvd

It was actually reviewed on this site but I don't know where all the reviews have disappeared to.

Basically, it doesn't teach you a lot but if you are an absolute beginner then get it, if not, skip it unless you want to see some behind the scenes stuff about the Nancy's film November.

Re: dvx 100 tutorial dvd

I got it before I got my camera. (Then found out I got it for free with my camera and magic bullet from Birnsand Sawyer).
Nancy talks about how she used the camera on November and the settings she used. The other part is a tech from B&S who goes through the menu settings, much easier than reading the manual.

On a funny note, the guys at B&S told me when she was doing this she was very embarassed by the association with a "prosumer digital camera" and walked around the place saying "My career is in the toilet". Now she has gotten so much publicity from this her attitude has changed to "A pretty neat little camera!".

Re: dvx 100 tutorial dvd

I got it only as a training aid for others who will be using the camera. It saves me the time of having to explain a lot of stuff. If you are the only one using the camera, then the value of this DVD greatly diminishes. It's not a bad DVD, but you can get the same info by going through the menu system yourself with the manual at your side (and maybe even a couple more items). I was disappointed that they didn't go more into, "This menu item does this AND here are some circumstances that would apply." :P
I like it only as a training aid for those with little to no shooting experience.
