DVX 100 Store ripoff

I flew from the caribbean to the US to buy a DVX100A at Royal Camera on Kings Highway. The box had 100P on it. The man isisted that it was the 100A and not the 100. This was mid may. Yesterday i found out on this site(http://www.adamwilt.com/24p/) the the 100P is the 100 and not the 100A. What action can I take. Please give advice, please?

I'm not sure that you can take any action on something like that now that it's been that long. orig. you may have been able to return it. Alway's check a resellers reviews from buyers. save your self the hassle in the future.

Well, you only paid 1,800 dollars according to their price list, and even for a regular dvx100, that's an awesome price.

1,800 for a new DVX, 100 OR 100A, sounds gray market. No way they could sell it for that cheap - even cost price has got to be more than that...

Thanks. I E-mailed them a stern mail yesterday. The replied and said call the custermer service department to discuss the matter. By the way. Anyone has had problems encoding with compressor in FCP HD and the file cannot import into iDVD?

You don't encode in Compressor for iDVD... only for DVDSP3. With iDVD, you just drop the reference movie from FCP into iDVD.

Imo, royal cameras looks sketchy....their prices are about 40% lower than most other real stores.

I think they tried to ripped you off, but if you got a dvx100 for 1800, then in reality you came out ahead.

it really is a 100a. My box says the same thing. dvx100AP. *P* doesn't stand for pal. it's just some fukin code panny puts on their box. if it were pal it would say "dvx100APAL". I'm pretty sure that's correct. i saw it in a magazine or on adam wilt's site.

BTW: ROYAL CAMERA IS A ROYAL RIP OFF. They drag u in by posting that price, BUT its only for the *shell*. no lens no strap no battery etc... it pissed me OFF. BUT, i still wlaked away w/ getting it in *three days* and shipping all totald to: $3300, still less than u'd pay anywhere else that i know of!

DVX100 NTSC= dvx100P
DVX100A NTSC= dvx100AP
DVX100A PAL = dvx100AE

CV studios, if you have a 100 A it will say on the camera itself. Look on the Flipout screen if it says AG-DVX100 then you do not have the 100A On the flipout screen of the 100a it says AG-DVX100A.

I have a great idea. Go back and bomb the place and film it with your generic DVX 100.

call your credit card company and have a hold put on Royal. If they did not give you what you ordered, the CC company should help you. You will need to send back the camera (with proof of delivery).

I really enjoy scam artists i think they are pathetic. If i see a site that looks suspicious i call them! I ask and ask and ask more. I ask about the camera, transaction, location and more. If you smell something negative in the clerk move in even closer let him be honest with you and tell you to "**** off" because he was not able to fool you in. Now you know if they are honest people. Love..

Somewhere on this forum a retailer explained the 'P'. FYI, it stands for "Pacific", i.e., non-European, i.e. NTSC, i.e., non-PAL.

FYI. DVX100A PAL is also known as DVX 102 in my country. From Panasonic Singapore and not grey imports, I know, it's very confusing.
