DVX 100 one man on the run wireless mic solution

Hi,

I need to be mobile.
I need to avoid zoom gear noise.

I will assume that wireless will be a suggested avenue so I will ask in advance.....

If anyone has a neat low budget wireless audio solution for a one man company i would appreciate the product advice. I like wireless as it means I don't have to reposition booms; & I can move about without unplugging cables and repositioning booms now in the frame. This would mean I need a battery powered receiver and connect into XLR camera inputs. Can all receivers run on batteries?

I also pick up the gear noise on the built in mics - but I understand this is normal and only mentioned it to say i need an alternative. Perhaps an external directional mic mounted on camera - but anything 'on' the camera may pick up that grind especially in the quiet moments zooming in on an 'I do'.

What products do you suggest i purchase.
I shoot weddings. inside and out.

thanks

I have the audio technica At897, and it is a great mic! $250 new. People also seem to like the Rode NTG-2, which is essentially the same thing, but made by Rode.

yes the g2 and g3 evolution are battery powered. Just google it and you'll see all u need to see about them.

Andtthefilmer,

Is the Audio technical receiver battery operated and can connect to a camera that is on the move? The sennheisser is $600 minimum. Looking for a cheaper alternative.

Well from what u describe u sound like u want a wireless lav. I think the mic Andy is refering to is a shotgun mic. That's not the mic for ur purposes as described by you. So...I'm not 2 sure what u want. The senhesier is a bit costly...but its the cheapest best quality wireless lav u can get. Shaun (another dvxuser member ) used to use a cheaper wireless ...and he said it got the job done for him...I just can't remember which it was right now.

I use to think about getting a wireless mic and didn't really see anything I like so I would recomend a portable recorder...(I don't own one tho)
it might not be best solution if you are doing news but if I would pay $300~$200 for a wireless mic I would get the zoom h4n and just use that as my mic.
just record directly on it and sync the audio in post...

Thanks. Will look into both the Zoom and the G2/G3. I am doing Weddings. The Zoom might work if I can tape it to the Lecturn ... or the ministers forehead (!!) and would certainly be useful in other cases where one cannot bother the subject to strap on a mic for ya. Otherwise in a more controlled and cooperative environment the Groom would wear a mic - I suppose. ta
