Congratulations Kersho! That's a great short. Very nice work, I loved it.

Re: DVRAck shorts contest

Hey, Congratulations, Kersho! Nicely done, and very good to see lots of us DVXUsers out there doing great things!

We managed an "Honorable Mention" with "Bedford Village," hope to do better here in the DVXUser contest!

Re: DVRAck shorts contest

Re: DVRAck shorts contest

I think the other Honorable mention about the Ping Pong short also was a DVXUser.com member. I remember seeing it in the clips section.

Congratulations to everyone.

Re: DVRAck shorts contest

Don't you own a DVX? Your entry looked very videoish...were you using the 24p setting?

Re: DVRAck shorts contest

i was gonna put another entry using a 500 bucks jvc dv but loaded with after effects stuffs ,keying ,effects and such, just to see if the tools matter more than the content.but i'm short on time.

I don't own any camera...I had to rent an XL2 for the shoot and beg and borrow everything else (I don't own any equipment, not even any editing software). I did use the 24p setting, which resulted in the very odd motion artifact in the "dumping out the toybox" shot.

As far as the look, I had a horrible mishap with lighting and scheduling. My lighting package fell through at the last minute leaving me with a single tota...then for some reason, they took the blinds off the windows room two days before I got there, so the entire short is essentially the natural light of an extremely overcast day...or me attempting to fight natural light as best I can.

Also, I thought I was going to have about four hours to shoot, but that turned into an hour and a half from setup to tear-down. The second actor had to be in another state in time for his football party.

I was just glad to get it over with and actually get most of the shots I needed.

Re: DVRAck shorts contest

J_Barnes, I liked it a lot (even if you think it was a disaster). NoVA represent.

Re: DVRAck shorts contest

A disaster within reason. I can be reasonably proud of it, and that's all I really ever ask from life. and yes...NoVA representing it's barren film community! woo.

It's not LA, NY, or Seattle, but it could be worse.

Rosebud is coming up this month:
