Re: DVRack Contest Results

be nice...I believe there were a number of people on this board that submitted to that contest and the person that won is a DVXUser member.

When people here submit their projects for others to view, they do so with the hope that their work won't be rudely dismissed as "crap". We can be as critical as we like as long as we intend to stay constructive in our analysis. In that aim, it's give and take...so when it comes time for you to share, I hope people won't dismiss your work as "crap" as well.

In other words, be supportive or take a hike.

Right On. So many times we see other work and make comments about how bad it lookded or it could have been done better. It took a lot of work and it was good enough to take first place. If you must be critical do it in a way that will help that person do it better and point out what he or she could do. That would be better then saying it was crap.

Unix - Hi, I'm the owner of that video which you so fondly referred to as a piece of "cr@p." Sorry you felt that way about it -- everyone I've shown it to has really enjoyed it. And I'm pretty pleased with the results ;D But hey, "to each his own!"

Anyway no offense taken, but as J_Barnes and LRich007 said, it would really be helpful if you could comment on what aspects of the video you didn't (or did) like. I definitely would appreciate "useful" criticism!

One aspect I know could've been improved was the lighting -- I just didn't have time to properly light some scenes, nor am I by any means an expert at lighting. I think I needed more backlight/kickers on the actors in many shots. And the shot of the salesman saying "yeah, me too," looked pretty flat.
