DVMultiRig Pro

Just a quick report on DVMultiRig Pro... I had tested a pre-production version in July and just shot last week with the production version. I really have to recommend this very strongly for run and gun shooting with HVX. While I also have the DVRig Pro and continue to think very highly of it, the MultiRig is very suited for situations where lighter-weight equipment is called for. I might not get around to posting photos for a few days, but the HVX just balanced beautifully on it and I could mount my Firestore on the backplate and even devised a way using the Geardear "backpack" to mount this item to the DVRig and attach my Tekkeon battery (with that great low-tech solution called gaffers tape).

My editor just asked if I'd gotten one for review yet. Haven't gotten one. But would still love the chance to run a nationally published review of it...

good review and pics guys....but has anyone noticed this is a bit goofy lookin? i mean - yeah it's looks very functional, versatile, well made, but -- well it just looks kind of goofy man. i use a fig rig which is plenty goofy in it's own right, but it's a conversation piece "hey man what's with that steering wheel?"
i shoot verite doc stuff so as inconspicuous (sp?) as possible is preferred. i'd look like some robotic fly on the wall with this thing. yikes

Even those who shoot with smoothshooters and such look goofy too, especially doing the glidecam walk.
Keep in mind that my pitures are with the rig fully loaded up. If I get a new Canon A1, then I lose the Beachtek on the bottom of the cam, the shotgun mic moves onto the cameras shotgum mount, and the wireless goes onto me and the camera light (looking at the new Varizoom light that takes camera battereies) goes onto the cameras hotshoe. So the overall look of the rig will shrink in stature considerably as all of the cables that are currently sprawled out.
While I was shooting a wedding last weekend, I was concerned about looking too conspicuous and obtrusive to the guests, so I asked my wife what see thought.
Her and I came to the same conclusion that the only thing conspicuous about how I looed while shooting, was the on camera light that was needed in an extreme low light situation.

Myself as a vidgrapher, doesn't have the luxery that a phtographer does, get the picture and get out, as I have to wait and capture an entire moment in time as it develops and goes to it's conlusion. And tools like a Fig Rig, Glidecam, DVMulti Rig, DVRig Pro, all are a great asset to helping us make great stable creative video. It's just that I can shoot in pretty much and configuration or situation with my DVMulti Rig, all day long fatigue free and get rock solid shots without the need of a tripod.

And you know what, after I looked at how great my footage looked after the night was over, I don't care how I looked. Besides I like Goofy. :)
