pastywhiteboy said:Unfortunately, having two processors doesn't necessarily make your computer twice as fast... every piece of software from your NLE to the plugins you are using have to be optimized for multiple cores for you to get full use of both processors... otherwise it just runs at single core speed with the other core(s) available for multitasking.
FatBird19 said:if software isn't optimized for multiple cores, does the OS at least have each piece of software spread out over the cores as a whole? Like, if I was running 2 simple programs and FCP, would the mac put the simple ones on one core and FCP on the other?

From what I've read, this plugin doesn't make AVI "copies" of the MXF data, but rather "reads" them in realtime and allows you to work with them in lower-quality form without reducing the quality of the actual files? Kind of like a proxy setup? If that's so, that's awesome... I might even reconsider getting a Mac if it works as well as the website seems to indicate. They mention that Raylight uses its own codec, however; does that mean it's recompressing the original files, or are you able to edit the files and output them untouched from the original DVCPRO-HD data?
