DVF-EL 200 with F65

I was told that the F65 will never be compatible with the DVF-EL 200 because The F65 can’t output the required signal. That didn’t really make much sense to me considering the F65 shares the same EVF
port as the F55 after the CBK-65EL update and has no issues running the DVF-EL 100. So Is this just Sony being bastards and not providing a simple firmware update that would give the F65 compatibility or is the F65’s hardware incapable of sending the required signal via the new CBK-55AT lemo adapter to the new viewfinder?
 
I believe that’s correct since the DVF-EL100 can handle both PsF and true progressive signals but the DVF-EL200 cannot: it only handles true progressive signals. The F65 only spits out PsF, and so, only works with EL100 while the F55/F5 spits out true progressive which is why it works with both viewfinders.

This all makes sense given the timeframe that each viewfinder was released: the EL100 came out when F65, F55/F5 were current so it needed to handle both. The EL200 came out when Venice and F55/F5 were current so it only needed to handle these.

Well, I guess that saves me $800 on the CBK-55AT lemo adapter kit.....but it’s still a shame that the DVF-el 200 doesn’t support PsF..... as I still tend to use my F65 over my Venice on personal projects, and I’ve never really liked the DVF100.
 
Weird...I was just wondering if I should get the EL100. What don’t you like about it? Isn’t it an improvement over the original F65 viewfinder?
 
I am sure Keslow Camera had a solid reason for installing the 26pin LEMO port on my F65 (required for the DVF-EL200) instead of the usual multi-pin port to be used with a DVF-EL100.

Well that’s definitely not a standard upgrade available from Sony...I’d call that a custom solution, perhaps even proprietary to Keslow. Good to know though!
