DVDSP & iDVD & Varicam

2 questions:

1. How much better is it to make a Standard Definition DVD from DVDSP than iDVD? Does it actually look a ton better? -or does DVDSP just have more options for customization?

2. Is it better to pull in a separate video and audio track to make a DVD in Studio Pro, (compressor 90 minute high quality DVD) or can you just dump in the uncompressed movie and burn that?

I shot a project on Varicam and am trying to preview what it will look like as very good quality SD DVD before it goes out for duplication (i'm not doing that).

thanks for any suggestions

If you use DVD Studio Pro, you can take advantage of the resize filter in compressor (under frame controls) to make a higher quality down conversion. Using compressed Dolby AC3 audio files will allow you to have more room for video.
