Hi,
In the past before I got my PC DVD writer, I used to use a Very big DVD machine hooked up to the television and used a Camcorder to put what I had onto the DVD, I edited several tapes into a 1 hour DVD, now all I can do is write DVD's the old way of : inserting a dvd into a dvd player, hooking up my TV and DVD writing machine...But I want to now use my LAptop and external DVD writer instead to speed up the process instead of the real time situation I am in...
How do you get the DVD info onto the laptop? Thanks :)

Do you mean how you burn a video onto a DVD?

If thats what you are after you need to look into a DVD "authoring" software.

First the video you want to "burn" needs to be imported into your PC, this is done by digitization.

Import Video (convert to a digital format) >> Edit (using any NLE) >> Transcode to DVD standard (MPEG2 VOB) >> Author MPEG2 VOB files using aurthoring software.

A million combination of software exists, so I'll leave that out.

Hi Anhar :)...I have a DVD write on pc and have been able to do that with new films....but I have an old film on a dvd and want to get it onto the pc so that I can Create more copies so that I don't have to go through my television and 2 other dvd players...it was before I owned the Computers DVD writer you see :)

You want to back up an old DVD (make a copy of an existing DVD)?

That too is very simple,

it requires one to "RIP" the content of a DVD (one that you own legally or is your own content, or have premission from the author)

Many free tools such as "DVD Shrink" should be easly able to rip the files for you, you then simply use a authoring tool to burn as many copies from those ripped files as you like.
