DVD Settings

So I've filmed and edited some 24p footage on PPro. I tried to put it into Encore to burn a DVD. It prompted me saying: File is 23.976 fps and needs to be transcoded immediately. Please choose a preset for it below. My choices are as such:

NTSC DV High quality 4Mb VBR 2 Pass
NTSC DV High quality 7Mb VBR 2 Pass
NTSC DV High quality 8Mb CBR 1 Pass
NTSC DV Low quality 4Mb CBR 1 Pass
NTSC Progressive High quality 7Mb VBR 2 Pass

This is just a short DVD of test shots. It has 1 menu, and one other file that is 29.97, and of course, I was not prompted with this message for that footage.

Re: DVD Settings

Choose the bottom one. You can also export an Encore-ready file using Premiere's Media Encoder (it's a submenu from the Export pulldown).

It's best not to mix progressive and non-progressive stuff on one DVD, it can get messy sometimes.

Always MPEG-2 for a DVD. 2 pass, or predictive encoding, is also always advised, but it takes longer (when people tout how much faster their DVD encoders are than others it is because they do not use 2 pass encoding and are comparing it to an application where this is default.)
