DVD Is 720, And No Flicker?

Hi guys,

Today I read in Videography that DVD's have 720 lines of resolution. Why then, does it not flicker on my standard definition set, when "high res" DVX100 shots (around 550 lines) do flicker? Is there a downconversion happening that I don't know about?

You seem to be mixing horizontal and vertical resolution. DVD's are 720px by 480px.

Exactly -- DVDs have the exact same pixel dimensions as the DVX does (or any DV camera).

Thanks for the reply. It makes perfect sense.
I just may have confused the two resolutions. But I think the tone of the article seemed to portray a res disparity.
