ok ....
f5 for standard ntsc dvd's
f6 for film out or dvd 24fps...

OK, this question might be a lil on the dumb side, but is there ne difference btwn a 60i dvd and a 24fps dvd (as in appearance/performance)?

Just post what u know.
If u know some theory behind the machanics of the media/players or whatever, plz feel free to post. I'm just curious, b/c I'm planning on puting my masters on dvd (since replication houses are starthing to accept it along with dlt).

So what do ya'll know about the 2 dvd types?

Much tks.

P.S.....how can i get a good shot of the night sky (stars and all)

Re: DVD frame rates

When watching on an NTSC TV, there's no visible difference between 24P footage in 60i MPEG, and 24P MPEG footage with a pulldown added by the player.

The difference comes when you're watching on a progressive monitor - when you don't have to re-add the pulldown. You'll be seeing the true 24P frames in their native form.

Re: DVD frame rates

so, i guess that means it looks better, right?

(referring to watching 24p dvd on progressive tv)

Re: DVD frame rates

Right

Plus the added benifit of making a 24fps dvd is the amount of space that is used on the disc is less allowing you to render with a higher bit rate or fit a longer film on the disc.

Re: DVD frame rates

Progressive frame always has been an advance over the interlaced frame. So Mike, that means on a NTSC TV (non progressive) 24p dvds will be played with a 2:3:3:2 pulldown meaning a lump of slow and fast frames, ehhh.
