DVD Copy ? - need to copy a dvd

I need to copy a dvd. the material on the dvd is mine. whats the easiest way to Rip & Copy...Suggested software?

Is it a commercial copy protected DVD, or a DVD R?

And is there a reason you don't use your original footage?

DVD + R ....footage i burned to dvd in dvd format..I no longer have the originals and need to make a copy. Thanks for the help!

just so everyone is clear, you want to:

a - extract the video and audio files to a digital file (a container with both video and audio and maybe subtitles) that can be easily played-back on your computer using a video player software(specify the software and hardware for playback).

b - make another dvd with the same content as the one you currently have.

Yes that sounds accurate. I own the material on the DVD I just need a second copy.

that's not so difficult to google.

there is a free version of nero that can do that. www.nero.com (there are also lite versions of nero that come with cd and dvd burners).

or you could just google 'free dvd copy' if you want something else free.

Use "Disk Utility" in your utilities folder to make an image file, then burn that to a new DVD.

Step 1- put the disk in your Mac
Step 2- right click on the DVD's icon and choose "Burn <filename> to disk"
Step 3- do what the computer tells you to next
