Well, good job everyone, you made the deadline and got your films in.

Next step is for the Zombiefest DVD, we need you to output your films to a 24p (advanced if possible) AVI and burn it to disk, along with separate AVI's of your bonus or behind the scenes footage.

If you are doing a commentary, please sync it up to your film, then output it with video. You can if you desire have the film audio playing under the commentary, just make sure you lower the levels so people can hear your commentary track clearly.

When you get it all done, send everything in a package to:

Include a cover letter with your name, address and name of film. The address on this page will be where we ship your Tshirt, Movie Poster Disk and any prizes (if you win)

All DVD entries must be in by the 5th of October, so please get them in the mail as soon as you can. Me and Barry are gonna shoot for authoring the DVD and getting it stamped for a Halloween release.

For us Apple users, what would you recommend? AVI is a Windows codec and causes Macs to bleed from the Firewire ports.
 
Whatever wrapper you want to send in.. as long as its DV. If you gotta send a MOV then im sure I will live.
 
Hey Jared, any chance I can have a bit more time as I'll have to Fedex it to the states from the pacific, and that could be expensive... :-(
 
I shot my footage in 30p because I knew I was going to speed it up a little. Am I going to be able to still output a 24p file? I never tried it.

Clarification: AVI is not a codec, it's just a wrapper like QuickTime. The codec is the encoder itself, like DivX, H.264, Sorenson, etc.

While we CAN output AVIs, you're right that it's a bit of a pain and can reduce quality.

Jarred, not to be a pain, but I'd like to send in my MOV file with multiple audio options but I don't want to overload your authoring program. I'm only familiar with DVD Studio Pro 3.

Can you handle a Surround Sound mixed AC3 file? If so, what I'll send is a MOV file, an AC3 file, a stereo WAV file, and a mono WAV with commentary track. If any of this won't work just omit it. Thanks for all the work!
 
We all want a DVD for Halloween, so get your stuff out ASAP! Believe me, I'll be in shipping hell as soon as the DVD is released, but it's going to be very cool seeing the films on a nice plasma screen.

correct.. I want the DV codec, mov or avi doesnt matter. I just myself switched to Mac, so im gonna try and open this stuff up in DVD Studio pro and give it a go, so MOV or AVI will be fine.

Seriously man, I'm new at this stuff. Sorry if I sound retarded. But I can output them into a MOV and send you the file right?

You said you gonna do this in DVD Studio Pro, so I can send MPEG2 file too right?
 
dont send a mpeg. if you send a mpeg i will kill you.

A wrapper is just the "format" the video is saved in.
 
size is whatever the DV codec is vs your run length, which should fit on a blank dvd no problem.
