DVD Burner Drive Problems

Hey,

I got a DVD burner in my machine but I seem to only be able to write to +R discs, and not -R.

Is this normal, do they make drives that will write to one but not the other. I thought that -R came first so why would it not burn if it's the most compatible? Am I just hallucinating? Should I have taken those unnamed pills before sitting down?

Any help would be great.

Yes, there are drives that will only burn to +R and drives that only burn to -R. There are also combo drives that will burn both. It sounds like you have a +R only drive.

Crap. Well is there any.......work around to be able to burn on -R's? I read something about doing a "crossflash" with other firmware.

I wouldn't count on it working. My advice would be to spend the $50 on a new burner that will do what you want.

What Model Drive is it? ex. Pioneer A04 / 104, etc.
