DVD Authoring

Soooo close....I'm using Main Concept's MPEG encoder, which I looove. I really like it better than Sorenson's (and Sorenson's continues to remain incompatible with the new Quicktime 7). My 24P DVD is almost working great (burned simply with Ulead's Movie Factory, though I'm going to try DVD Lab).

Final remaining issue is at the outset of each new scene on the disk, there's a bit of flutter/stutter/freeze. But just at the outset of the scene. I'm wondering if there's anything you guys know of that would cause that. Otherwise, the disk plays perfectly. Just the very first couple seconds of a scene is farked up.

Exciting for me to finally see my 24P footage on my TV and not just on my computer!

Could be the DVD player. The whole +R -R thing isn't perfect, and some of the discs I make will play great on DVD player X, but play like crap on DVD player Y. If you have another player you can try that and see if that's the problem.

It could also be the speed at which you burned. In my experience burning a DVD faster will result in more crap like that. I always burn at the slowest speed possible. 1x or 2x.

See if any of those suggestions sound right to you.

I've been using Adobe Encore. The integration into other Adobe products like Photoshop makes it really easy for me to use. I haven't tried any other DVD authoring programs yet (I haven't really needed to).

I use Adobe Encore. I just export a QT ref then bring it into Encore and encode. I find that I have excellent quality with Encore.

Is the encoder for AvidDvd that important? if so what does it do and how good a program is it with out it?
