dvd authoring with 24pa question...

has anyone had this issue.

I shot some interviews with a dvx 100B at 24pa. In my final cut 5, 23.98 timeline, it looks crisp and fine. I imported with advanced pulldown removal. When i export with compressor to make an mpeg 2, the resulting video has this subtle flicker effect noticeable in the dark areas. In general it just doesn't look as sharp or clean as I expected.

Is there something i'm missing or a defined procedure for making mpeg 2 files/dvd's from 24pa footage?

check your sequence settings in fcp and make sure they are 23.98 fps.

then check the settings in compressor and make sure compressor knows it is 23.98 and progressive.

then double check the settings in dvdsp to make sure it is making a 24p dvd. i believe it's in the 'assets inspector.'
