DVD authoring - progressive scan?

Vegas Movie Studio HD 11 doesn't have an MPEG-2 NTSC DV Widescreen render template for 30p. The 30fps (29.97) templates render 'lower field first'. The 24p template renders 'progressive'. There is no ability to modify these templates or create custom MPEG-2 templates.

Once again ... 30p is not part of the DVD MPEG specification. 30P footage will be encoded as 60i, but will look identical to 30P on playback.

Argh matey, why on earth are you trying to make this so hard? And why on earth won't you at least try? Staring at the screen for days on end isn't accomplishing a bloody thing, is it?

Take your 30p timeline and render it out using your MPEG-2 30fps (29.97) render 'lower field first' template. Quit frettin' about it and just do it. Burn a bloody DVD. Shove it in a player, watch it on real physical TV.

Now tell us, what do you see? Do you see interlaced, or do you see progressive? Which is it?

Is it really necessary to be such an ASS?

I HAVE done the burns. I DID resolve the problem. I render at 24p now and all is well. I was just responding to YOUR instruction to render "at 30p", saying that rendering at 30p isn't an option on Movie Studio HD 11. That's all.

Perhaps what you MEANT to say was "30fps believe it or not", but what you SAID was "30p believe it or not". So that's what I responded to.

I get it. Render at 24p or 60i.

I appreciate all the helpful advice. I truly do.

But I don't appreciate the pissy attitude.
