What resolution are you guys rendering in with dvcprohd footage? 1080/1280 or 1080/1920? I searched but cant find an answer. If I render at 1080/1920 wont I be lossing picture quality because dvcprohd doesnt record in 1080/1920?
Well, image sequences don't have a video codec associated with them, obviously. So, you don't have to worry about pixel aspect ratio--just export as square pixels in the full dimension of your HD flavor (ie. 1920x1080 or 1280x720). Do a single frame export as a test--you'll see options for the image resolution based on your HD flavor.
It's basically the inverse of creating SD NTSC graphics in Photoshop, for instance. You create an image with square pixels (like 720x540 for D1) and then vertically compress the image to 720x486. That basically creates an image with non-square pixels. Importing it into the Avid with 601 aspect ratio sest makes it look correct. Since DVCPROHD uses rectangular pixels, you're just reversing this process. When you reimport the TGA sequence (which I'm guessing is what you plan to do), it'll be scaled back to DVCPROHD.
