DVCPro50 WMV from the HVX200

But I've read from a Barry message, that this will not happen! We'll have a Pal Hvx200 with 25p and the same resolution of Ntsc!
@720p and not @1080: 1440x1080 to 25p/50i version instead 1280x1080 to 24p/60i NTSC one.

Yes, but in 1080 we have no framerates, so we have also the choice of Canon:

Matteo Ricchetti did some test about quality of Canon and Sony:

http://www.eidomedia.com/test/

Look it :http://www.eidomedia.com/test/immagini/originali/canon_hd.jpg what do you think of detail of this one, Emanuel? IT's awesome! You can change colors too, without problem...I've understand if you have more resolution and less colour space 4:2:0 you can have the same advantage of 4:2:2 pragmatically.
Panasonic increase colour information with 4:2:2 but lost in resolution in detail and resolution for Dvcpro codec.
So Canon has got the same advantage, increasing detail, try to manipulate an image of Canon is easily as manipulate an image without detail of Panasonic.
Poichè il Dettaglio è in rapporto al colore, Emanuel! Detail and colours non vanno divisi! E' come il bicchiere mezzo pieno e mezzo vuoto, you know?
Think about it! Try in photoshop!

If you do a Black and White version, increase the contrast, add a bit of grain, it's very very very filmlike! Try it!

This is confirming what I said yesterday. Dancing pixels and poor low light capabilities are coming out.

For once I am really glad that the PAL version is a few months behind the NTSC version. By the time the PAL version hits the streets, we will all have seen hours of test footage, and the pros and cons of this camera from folks on here.

After the initial euphoria, it seems the VX200 has issues which are a cause for concern. Hopefully they will prove to be unfounded and we can buy the camera safe in the knowledge that it wil give great images.

But that first image on this thread has filled me with utter dread.

Hi Danilo. The girl is my friends daughter and I did the basic grading on those H1 frames. I have more shots coming from the H1 within the next 24hrs that are even more amazing. And with these Im doing no grading this time, just resizing to 1280x720 becuase of bandwidth. But you still get the quality of the image that comes from the H1.

More H1 pics coming to this link.

I've not seen crappy footage from Canon Xl H1, details and colours seem more good despite 4:2:0 compression.
It's very hard to realize what we gonna choice between the amazing image quality of the
Canon Xl H1 (http://imagecloset.com/1/12380123-SIMPLE GRADING.jpg) or Hvx200 "good, more filmic..." (http://www.onetensix.com/hvx200/img/060103_evening03.tif) with framerates and other option, but crappy noise image resolving with additional 10.000$ of electric lamp's lighting .
Variable framerate of crappy webcam it's not my dream.

If I'd have money I'll buy all of them. But I can buy only one, so I must analyze ev'ry problem...:(

The camera is either noisy or it isn't and all indications so far are that the camera suffers from noisy CCD's. In my test with the DVCPro50 MXF's I have available confirm what people are saying. It is very noisy.
Guys, I just figured out the problem... there's a new button on the production model that wasn't covered before:

thanks PappasArts! I visit frequently your site to see some new pics!
The frame grab of the girl is stunning! I've done some CC on it, in Black and White, and it was awesome!
Have you never seen Lancome Tresor commercials, the first commercials (with Ines Sastre) ? (eh eh if you remember them you're an old man as me :)
Is what reminds me the detail and colours of Canon Xl H1 (for example the frame grabs-still camera function- of the "Cat" in dvinfo, look at the colours), I'm thinking what happens when we add on it Guerilla35 adapter.
Mr. Pappas I suspect it would be SUPER-STUNNING! :)

Where's this button? I've seen the images from panasonic site and it doesn't appear!
It's a joke!? I hope this button could explain some of this noise problem.
Jan has not explain the existence of this button...it would be the first thing that could explain the infamous noise problems that Hvx200 seems produce...

Danilo,

I just posted the Canon XL H1 frames from my filming I did in Hollywood at Birns & Sawyer during December 2005. There are more frames to come, so enjoy these for now.

It's best to open these in quicktime and then play as full screen in loop mode. Or you can pipe them off to a HD monitor..

Are you sure you've been looking at pictures of the production model?

Seems like Panny's taken a step backwards after their success with the "Filmlook" button on the DVX.

Thanks a lot! :) This community consumes me! :)

Pappas how is going Hdv codec during panning shot, and have you experencied Gop problems? How it works considering well-know Sony Hdv problems, Canon has made some trick about it?
Please can you report this information? This thing worried me A LOT A LOT A LOT!
And , do you think it's possible make a good slowmo from 60i material?

Excuse me for this questions, and thanks to provide me all this stuff! Thanks :)
