DVCPro50 WMV from the HVX200

Yup I saw it already but I think that Canon grab is well CC too! On the other hand, Pappas is straight to Canon, for sure, despite his commitment with the filmmaking. Sorry Michael but that's the way we're already thinking...well, but regarding that event with Panasonic I'm totally @your_side. You rocked, with or without stolen footage as I read it.

Didn't mean to be mean but looking at the frame at the bgnng of the thread made me think you are reaching for the sky. And also, I love lights...
Xl-H1: can you post me the link to it? i would appreciate. tx and goodnight, i'm falling asleep.

Così mi dici cosa ne pensi di Canon e Panasonic! :)/ So you can easily tell me about your thoughts on Canon and Panasonic! :)
I'm a lot confused Emanuel, I was sure that Panasonic would be the right choice, why this ugly noise problem is coming out! Damned electronics! :(
Also I love detail, it seems that Jan thinks that only it's important storytelling, I much like an old B/W look, alla Pasolini, as "Passione secondo Matteo".
Canon Xl h1 can match with details more as B/W old movie, Panasonic could match more a Kevin Smith's "Clerks" in hi-def, but with poor detail, impasted colours, and noise. I'm thinkin' it's better a Dvx100 if you want shoot "Clerks", but for artistical project...shooting the beauty of a lost time, Panasonic it's too modern in the concept.

Ma dai!...Tu sei anche uno italiano chi lo sa quello che è bello. Il cinema italiano è il più bello del mondo!

Panasonic it's too modern in the concept.

The low light performance is very poor from these clips. I was afraid of it for this camera because the chips are very small and something had to suffer. This may destroy chromakey altogether. The camera will need very ample light and I don't see any way from the supplied clips to salvage the images. Turning detail down doesn't help much. The noise is still evident. The images sent from my timeline out to broadcast monitor and to a regular TV are... well... I just can't believe my eyes they are so noisy.

Noise is very dissapointing after all the hype but the images do not lie.

Interesting, BUT ... The information is given out of context: (1) What was the gain? (2) What was detail set at? (3) Was there any adjustment done to the image after the shot was taken? (4) IF all the other 1/3" CCD HD Cameras were tested under the same conditions, would the noise level be about the same.

If this is from a clip with a gain of +18dB, don't set the gain that high.
If the gain was at 0 or +3dB, well that could be a problem.

BobDiaz,

The clips themselves have titles showing what the camera settings are. Unfortunately I got a nasty gram from my FTP host provider about hosting 2 Gigs of downloads and the server spikes are unmanageable.

I'll gladly post the clips elsewhere if anyone offers space and then everything will come into context.

Bob do you know these TIFFs...
Emanuel said:
Last but not least, and about the TIFF from Mr. Kaz Okamura. The noise of the Quick Time H-264 or wmv CANNOT be even a reference with the TIFF posted, isn't it? Or @motion_picture there will be noise? Of course, we - the PC users - without other sample of reference unless the Okamura's TIFF, can we to guide from there? Shall we?
...right? One of them is 0db and the noisy ones as far as 6dbs or even 12dbs, so what do you think? Regarding your post, shall we guide from there as merely a FUD problem or not?

The only one thing that makes me a bit happy is considering the advantage of more resolution of Pal version Hvx200.
But I've read from a Barry message, that this will not happen! We'll have a Pal Hvx200 with 25p and the same resolution of Ntsc!
Because it's eredited Varicam specs, worldwide! I said to Panasonic that it could be better do a camera with 24p also in Europe (a that time without know this hyper-sadly news), if what Barry has said is true what advantages are now?! We are totally f***ed!
Somebody helps me!
