DVCpro50 footage...

I recently shot some DVCpro50 footage with a Panasonic SDX900 and then captured it on a Mac. It was captured as a .mov file, compressed with the DVCpro50 codec. I brought it home to edit it on my PC but I can hear sound but no picture. Is there any way around this?

I have the mainconcept DVCpro50/25 codec. Still no luck.

Is there any way around this? I have searched a lot online, and there seems to be a great deal of confusion on this matter. Can anyone help me out?

Please advise.
Thanks so much!

Hmm, I'm not familiar with the whole transferring fcp stuff to pc deal, but I believe you may want to try downloading the avid quicktime plugin. What NLE are you using?

Not sure, though.
Worth a shot, I guess.

I am using Premiere Pro 2.0 and I have Windows XP Service Pack 2. I have read in forums that having Premiere pro 2.0 or service pack 2 would solve the problem. I have both and still no luck.

I don't know. I would try the Avid quicktime plugin... unless someone tells you differently, but that seems to be my memory from the stuff I have read here. Did you verify that the footage you put onto dvd or whatever to take to your pc, still played properly in fcp?

Yeah. The footage itself is definately good. Its just a matter of playing it on a PC. Would the avid quicktime plugin allow me to edit in PP2? It doesn't seem like it would, but I could be mistaken.

Oh. And its not just a matter of playing it in PP2. It won't show any video if you just play it in the quicktime player either.

So I just installed Avid Quicktime Codecs LE 1.20 from here:
http://www.avid.com/onlineSupport/supportcontent.asp?browse=go&productID=97&contentID=7952

No luck. However I found a site that said that codec pack only installs the following:
- AvidAV1xCodec.qtx: Avid 1:1x codec (Uncompressed MXF 8-bit)
- AvidAVd1Codec.qtx: Avid DV 100 codec (MXF)
- AvidAVdnCodec.qtx: Avid DNxHD codec (MXF)
- AvidAVdvCodec.qtx: Avid DV codec(DV 25 and DV 50, OMF and MXF)
- AvidAVpkCodec.qtx: Avid Packed codec (Uncompressed MXF 10-bit)
- AvidQTAVJICodec.qtx: Avid Meridien Compressed codec (OMF 8-bit)
- AvidQTAVUICodec.qtx: Avid Meridien Uncompressed codec (OMF 8-bit)

And DVCpro codec is not included. I wonder if there is a heavy edition of the codec pack somewhere?

One other thing you might try. On www.canopus.com the new trial version available for download, I believe now includes the Broadcast features, which include dvcpro support

Edius, supports just about every thing there is natively, so you might try downloading it, seeing if you can get your qt stuff to play back properly on there, and then just do a raw uncompressed avi output or something like that, for use in your nle.

Sorry, I can't give you something absolute, but I am sure someone will be along who can. I would try Edius' trial version though. You just may find it will play it. Edius is great for 2 things... supporting practically every format known to man, and being super powerful.

I don't thibk DVCPro 50 is supported on the PC yet... you need third party plugins... can't you just go back to the Mac and export as uncompressed 8 bit or 10 bit.. or even annimation codec... but the files will be big...

Cheers
