dvcpro50 capture to Laptop

I'm trying to capture DVCpro50 to a windows Vista laptop with premier pro CS3. If I create a DV project with the HVX200 camera in tape mode I can capture but when I switch to P2 mode with DVCpro50 (creating a DVCpro50 project in Premier) I get a message, "Can't activate recorder". On the same computer I have Onlocation CS3 which seems to record the DVCpro50 output fine (but I can't tell if it keeps the 422 codec). Anybody have some words of wisdom to take me out of my misery?

OnLocation records the footage bit-for-bit, so yes, the color sampling is 4:2:2.

Premiere can't live-record it because it expects DV, not DVCPRO 50. It's not (and I don't think any other NLE is, either) set up to live-record DVCPRO 50.
