Hello,
This may seem like a stupid question. On the hvx200a, for SD recording, is there any point to use DVCPRO vs DV? From what little I know, the improvements in DVCPRO are tape related and so moot w/ P2.
Thanks,
Panagiotis
You are basically correct. There are a couple of differences though:
1) if you're in PAL territory, DVCPRO uses 4:1:1 color sampling and DV is 4:2:0. This only applies to PAL though. In NTSC they're both 4:1:1.
2) DVCPRO mode sets some flags in the data stream that a DVCPRO tape deck might need to see, in case you wanted to firewire data over to a DVCPRO deck.
Other than that, on P2, they're pretty much identical.
