dvcpro tape instead of mini dv?

Is there a reason why panny didn't elect to use dvcpro tape instead of mini dv? this is a dvcpro camera afterall. I was just curious, because it seems like it might have been a nice thing to help bridge the gap while many are waiting for cheaper and larger storage options for the dvcpro formats that the hvx shoots. Particularly those shooting in sd res in the meantime. being able to shoot dvcpro 50 for example to tape might have been a nice option. what do you think?

while I am thinking of it, does anyone know of the site www.tapeandmedia.com ? I have gotten mini dv tapes from them in the past. just curious how they stack up in price in comparison to wehre most of you get your tapes and all.

thanks,
Jason

I think DVCPro tapes are quite a bit bigger than mini-DVs and would thus defeat the purpose of having a small, portible HD camera.

Although this has been covered countless times in countless threads:

Including a DVCPro deck in the HVX would have added many thousands more dollars to the price (I remember hearing something like 12-15 thousand... and that's for the deck alone, not the total camera price). This would be counter to the whole point of the HVX, which is a low-priced HD camcorder.

ahh. ok. just curious. sorry, i did a search for dvcpro tape and didnt' come back with anything. I'm new to forum life. thanks for the answer anyways, and for covering it for the thousandth time :)
