DVCPRO HD Footage not showing in FCP

I recently purchased a Panasonic HVX200, after testing it out I cant seem to get my HD footage to show in FCP properly. Anything filmed in DVCPRO 50 (480i/24p or 480i/60) shows up fine. Any footage shot in DVCPRO HD (720p/24p, 720p/60p, 1080i/24p, or 1080i/60i) doesnt show properly. I use the Log and Transfer ability to get the footage into FCP, once there the DVCPRO HD footage shows as a blank white screen with audio. Ive been attempting to figure it out for a week or so now, and have made no progress. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong or can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you for the link, I checked out the tutorials and the information. I went through them but with no success. I believe everything is updated to the most recent versions.

FCP 6.0.6
Mac OS 10.5.7
Quick Time Pro 7.6.2

I have finally reinstalled FCP. I still am unable to view any clips over 480. I am also now getting an error message that states, "codec not found. you may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card"

I assume after you shoot the HD footage that you can view the clips normally in the camera??

I hate to reiterate things that have already been said, but if you run the software update for FCP...I feel like that should take care of your issue. The codec for DVCPRO should be there. Sorry if this isn't helpful.

Do you have the DVCProHD QT codecs in the HD/Library/QuickTime folder?

David S...do you mean LIBRARY/QUICKTIME and not HD/LIBRARY/QUICKTIME? I don't have a folder "HD" but my DVCPROHD codecs are in library/quicktime. I'm using FCP 6.06.

The HD refers to the volume -- your hard drive, not the user.

If the codecs are there, and no DVCProHD is available, you may need to reinstall.

Thanks, David S....after I posted that question I thought that maybe you were referring to the volume. Just wanted to be sure my install file locations were correct!

So my system for some reason does not have the HD codecs in the Library/Quicktime folder. I tried a reinstall but no luck. I am having a friend try the reinstall from a different disc to see if that will solve the problem. Thanks for all the help, and ill post with the results of the second install.

Did you try to repair your permissions on the system disk before and after you re-installed FCP? It sounds as if the installer is not being allowed access to the directory to place the codec files in. Might be worth a try.

I did a complete install today. A friend helped me that is more knowledgeable then myself, and made sure everything went smoothly. Everything is now working properly and I am able to edit in HD 720/1080. Thank you to every one that took the time to help me out. I really do appreciate your time and instruction.
