DVCpro HD codec workflow/ Jarhead movie

well, not exactly tapeless when the film is transferred to HD tape and injested from tape. But, it was a good read.

DVCPRO HD and 4:2:2 are only two things that keep my eye on HVX. But not "amazing" picture quality that I still did not see from the cam in all these footage spread over the Internet. DVCPRO HD codec is still something better than HVX picture quality that is "trapped" in small size 1/3" CCDs. That is a reason Varicam is having much-much better picture because using 2/3" CDDs. That's all about a low-costs HD. even HDV or DVCPRO HD. To conclude is: Only if you have enough money to capture uncompressed you could "squeeze" the best possible quality from that chips in all low cost camcorder range ship to date. I think that TRUTH people in Panasonic, Canon and Sony know very well !!!. Unfortunately we are all on OTHER or the consumer side and we must TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT if we cannot afford. All it's up on our budget.

Thats because we havent seen a real lit scene yet. I'm sure once some filmakers get ahold of the camera, we'll get a good look.
I think we'll get some amazing footage for the money. If I want "prestine"...I'll stick to Kodak or varicam.
