Does anyone know if this at all possible,
I would like to shoot DVCPro HD 100 (1080i) (60i) with my HPX170... and import it into Adobe Premiere CS4, my goal is then be able to export it into the AVCHD 1080i Codec onto a SD Card in the structure that the HMC150 uses, or what is considered the standard structure for AVCHD.

Before any one asks why, I'll answer. I work for a company that offers SD/HD Wedding Video Packages. They have a few individuals that own the HMC 70 which shoots in the AVCHD 1080i format. These guys just send the SD Cards in the mail to the company for editing. I cant just send off a 3X 64Gb P2 Cards with DVCPRO HD on them,... I won't get them back in time for future events.

I'm all ready going to fork out money for 2X 64gb cards, I know, why not buy the HMC 40... Beleive me I'm thinking about it,... however, I'd rather have the GB in P2 Space... Having three hours of 1080i DVCPro is also a bonus...

Well, if anyone knows if this transcode and structure export to AVCHD onto SD Cards is possible please respond or PM me...
Thanks in advace for any assistance,
Len

I just realized something... AVCHD is heavy on the compression... I'm really going to make good footage look pretty crappy by changing the codec. Maybe I just need to look into other transport options. Solid State Drives might be a good idea.

Yes you should be able to export as an SD card... And there are other reasons to want to do that too -- for example, an SD card could actually be your HD delivered final master. Forget blu-ray discs, you could master your final project out to SD, and then anyone with an SD-slotted Plasma TV, or PS3, or blu-ray player, or laptop computer, could plug the card in directly and view the finished project...

The HMC150's format is AVCHD, which is structurally compatible with blu-ray. I would think you should be able to export your footage through Encore as a Blu-Ray folder and end up with something that should be compatible with the HMC150...

OMG! Barry, This works... I am so syched! This has got me thinking, even from a last resort kind of archive file type... This is so cool, you've got to hand to Sony and Panasonic... Thank you so much Barry, your the best...
