DVCPRO 50/25 footage

Hi Guys...

Now that it seems DVCPRO 50/25 footage is within our grasp with the HVX200,
does any body know where there are some clips, DVCPRO footage to take a look at..?

or even better, is anyone aware of any documentaries/films that have been filmed using the DVCPRO format....on the AJ-HDX400 for example...?

I live in th UK, so if anyone knows of programmes on Discovery Channel, National
geographic etc......we get these channels in the UK on SKY.

All the best

Looking at NatGeo or similar at home is no reference. Over here NatGeo is captured from Satellite and then put on the ( analog) cable. The sat mpeg2 bitrate is so low that the whole picture is horrible to watch. Blocks and artifacts everywhere.

They succeed in destroying every image, whether Digibeta or PD150, so there is no point in judging pic-quality this way. This is one reason I stopped watching NatGeo all together. ( the other one being putting sensationalism before facts: "Seconds From Disaster", "Sharks From Hell", ...)

I dont think that looking at clips of DVCPRO produced from others cameras is going to be a sensible way of getting an idea of how the HVX may look like, its only a format.

What the camera produces and what the camera records are two different things.

Example say the Sony F950 recorded onto tape using HDV, do you thing the FX1 also recording to HDV come close.... no chance!

The only thing that I can say is that DVCPRO is tried and tested format, so in that respect your in safe hands so to speak.

List of Programmes using Panasonic VariCam..???

List of Programmes using Panasonic VariCam..???

"The DVCPRO HD format, developed by Panasonic. Already in use at
broadcasting stations and movie production companies around the world,
DVCPRO HD is a full-fledged HD format that meets today's high-level
professional needs....The AG-HVX200 inherits the VariCam's advanced functions and warm, rich expressivity. It allows 24P/30P progressive shooting in both 720p and1080i recording, and it provides a Cine-like Gamma that captures images
that are strikingly similar in tone to film."

This is what it says in the brochure guys. I think it's well worth looking at programmes shot using the DVCPRO HD/50/25 formats. After all, surely Panasonic wouldn't have give the HVX200 DVCPRO recording capeabilities if they didn't intend to back it up with a suitable optical system....!!...Oh and by the way, sorry to hear that the National Geographic & Discovery Channels don't look that great in the US.
Here in the UK the image quality is outstanding. It's like looking though a window. Some of the new documentaries being aired look really amazing. I just hope they've been filmed on a Panasonic VariCam HD camera-recorder.

So my question still stands. Does anybody know of any programmes or films that have been shot using Panasonic's VariCam HD camera-recorder/ DVCPRO/50 or 25
that might be running on satelite TV

Cheers my friends
