DVC ProHD on a G5 then re-log and transfer ProRes?

I am wondering if this would work? I want to "finish" my project in ProRes HQ422. It would appear based on what I have read that my G5 will not have the horsepower to handle the large ProRes files but DVC ProHD seems possible. So what I am wondering is if I can log and transfer my AVCHD files to DVC ProHD and edit then when done, log and transfer the same files in ProRes and re-link the media.
Thoughts?
