DVC PRO50 uprezzed

Has anyone tried uprezzing dvcpro50? I'm reading reports that uprezzed dv50 actually looks better than the HD shot with the HVX!!

I tried upconverting to 720p with CineForm, and it holds up. Not as good as 720.
Also, 1080 downconverted to 720p looks a tiny bit better than 720.
What looks best though is when you tape two HVXs together and splice their images in post to get one super wide HD picture! Yeah!

That makes no sense and is completely innaccurate. First off, I will say that DVCPro50 uprezes pretty nicely. In fact, most HVX200 setting uprez well. It's just a nice camera that produces a great image. That said, the idea that DVCPro50 would look better uprezed than true HD is complete and utter BS.

I did some tests a while back where I took miniDV, DVCPro50, 720p, and 1080i from the HVX200. I then exported all of them uncompressed in 480, 720, and 1080. In 480, the DVCPro50, 720p, and 1080i all looked noticibly better than the mini-DV (most likly because of the increased color resolution). In 720, miniDV looked a bit soft and blocky, DVPro looked a bit soft (but the colors were still pretty), 720p looked just right, and 1080i....didn't look any better than 720p. I know this goes agains what others have said but, in my tests, I simply didn't find downrezed 1080p looking any better than native 720p even though it technically should because of DVCProHD subsampling. Finally, in 1080p, the miniDV stuff looked pretty weak (very soft with lots of jaggies and color blocking). The DVCPro50 wasn't as impressive either (cleaner colors but still soft). 720p uprezzed pretty nicely and native 1080i was the best of the bunch (though, to be totally honest, not all that much better than 720p).

I agree with can scanner... there's nothing better than taping 2 HVX's together... I'm getting 2160p resolution!
In all seriousness... dvcpro50 is still 480p... and it simply cannot look better than native 720p...
