Who that frequents this board has owned one of these cameras?? I do remember reading a post by a user named Betsy?? I believe.. He/She owned a DVX100 as well..

My main conern is a small review of the camera.. pros and cons.. as well as some enlightenment of matching these two cameras.. DVX100A and DVC30..

Low light capability abysmal?? im doing some documentary work that this smaller camera would greatly eenhance my mobility and use.. If i can use it in conjunction for weddings etc.. i would be more interested in this camera. Has anyone had any experience with this?? Has anyone shot any weddings with this Camera?? DVC30??

The low light performance on a DVC30 may well exceed the DVX, because the DVC30 has some sort of zero-lux nightshot mode. But don't listen to me, I've only seen one for about 30 seconds total... hopefully someone who has both will write in. You might also try over at dvinfo.net, seems like there are a lot of dvc80 users over there, might be some dvc30 users as well.

yeah i been perusing there all night.. Nothing really concrete though..
Im aware of the infrared feature.. im unsure that the picture quality would be useful with that feature..

The infrared mode is actually three different modes. Image quality in infrared monochrome is astonishingly good, but you would probably reserve that for few situations. The two color modes compromise quite a bit. The native low-light ability (full spectrum) seems good to me, but I have only played with consumer toys till now - cannot compare it to its big brother DVX100.

I'm exactly in the same situation as you. I need a second camera, which I can take when I do some climbing in the mountain. And the size of the dvc30 seems perfect.

I'm wondering too if I can get easily a good match between the dvx and the dvc. Until know, I've been borrowing the sony pdx10 of a friend and It's hard to have a good match.

Can you tell me if you find any informations.

Im on it.. watching here and DV Info for an answer.. It takes awhile for that info to be forthecoming i guess..

I just got my current issue of Videomaker and they reviewed the DVC30. They really raved about it. They suggested it was better than the Sony PDX10. They loved the image quality and low light capability.
