DV to USB 2.0??

[Jing]

Is there actually such thing?? My friend is telling me that is why the new MacBook Pros do not have Firewire 400, because USB 2.0 can import DV footage. Is this true? Anyone with a confirmation?

dv footage cannot be streamed over usb 2.0. the new macbook pro's have firewire 800. and you can by a fw800 9pin to 4pin cable.

Actually there does appear to be such a thing as a firewire->USB adapter device.

You're out of luck with a Mac though, as it only works on Windows. Unless you want to run BootCamp and run windows under that, then perhaps it'd work.

There is a note at that web site that the Macintosh is not support for DV cams due to a lack of a driver.

Is this the reason why I'm having a problem getting my mac book to read my DVX100A through fire wire?

[David Saraceno]

Is what reason causing the problem?

Is this a newer Macbook - just released with some kind of USB to FW adapter?
