DV Tape Nightmare! (I'm not sure where to post this)

This camera has left behind somewhere around 30 60-min. tapes of un-digitized footage. What am I supposed to do? I need to get those tapes on my computer, but the camera I was using to do so is out of commission! Should I buy a used one off eBay, rent one, what? Help!
If you need any more info, don't hesitate to ask.

There is no shortage of DV camcorders & decks out there -- I think I have half a dozen friends with one sitting in a cupboard somewhere. And you can still rent one from any decent rental house -- better yet, rent a deck. A weekend's effort and you can have everything transferred to a HDD.

Probably not worth buying a DV camcorder at this point, IMHO.

Cheers,
GB

get a deck? Maybe check out local community college? We have a couple of them at the school i take classes at.

This is why im so thankful i never have to use tapes again.

Good luck!

First step... Get a new battery and a seperate charger. I had a camera I thought broke (Sony DCR-HC20), so I took it apart to fix it, and broke it even more (tore the ribbon cable to lens, so the camera thinks the lens is closed). So I ordered another used camera (Sony DCR-HC28), took the battery that came with the HC28 and put in the HC20, turned right on. For some reason the HC20 wasn't charging batteries any longer, but if you put in a fully charge battery, it will probably work.

lol, you lucked out, but next time test all the obvious things first. I mean thats like your car not starting and getting it towed to the mechanic before you even check if the battery cable is still connected or not.
