DV rack - Firewire in - USB 2.0 Out ??? Help pleaase...

I use Dv rack to record my footage. I do so using a miniAtx desktop computer with a 250G Hard drive. But now i might start using the laptop we have. However the harddrive on the laptop is not big enough and so I intend will buy an 250g external one.

My question is this : since I will already be using the only firewire port on the laptop (for the camera) I should then be buying an external HD with a USB 2.0 connection. And if so, how does it work ? Is the bandwith fast enough ? is it reliable ? Are their any potential conflicts ?

I would love to get some information for all you people that have tried this setup before...

Yes... If I understand you correctly, you want to use a laptop w/DV Rack to capture your footage to a USB 2.0 external hard drive. If so, that will work no problem, as that is the setup that I use a lot.
