DV Rack as Post Production Monitor?

Hello all,

I couldn't seem to find the answer to this question. I have really gotten excited about using DV Rack as a production monitor system instead of an on-camera LCD. I love the extra tools that are included in DV Rack and using the M2, it just seems to make it that much easier to capture the best possible footage up front.

So, I doubt this is possible, but I thought I'd ask: Is there any possible way to use the properly calibrated software monitor in DV Rack as a post-production monitor from your NLE as well?

Thanks!
Brad

Sorry, I just found my own answer. For anyone else wondering...

I want to use DV Rack to check an monitor the DV output from my editing software, like Adobe Premiere. I've taken the 1394 Output of my editing computer, and I've connected it to the 1394 input of my laptop running DV Rack. DV Rack isn't recognizing the signal. How do I fix this?

Top The 1394 protocol is a very robust and versatile protocol. It does this by hard-wiring certain data on the card. Unfortunately, this hard-wiring prevents an AV signal from being passed from one computer to another in this manner. When you hook up two computers, the will automaticaly create a networking bridge, and the A/V data will not be recognized.
In order to make this work, you will need some sort of device in-between the two computers. According to Canopus, the ADVC110 can be used for this purpose. Connect a FireWire cable from the editing computer to the 1394 input of the device, and connect the 1394 output of the device to the laptop. The device will be recognized as an A/V Subunit by both computers, and it will pass through the video signal generated by Premiere to the laptop.
