I've looked through the manual, but I wasn't able to figure out my problem, so I figured I'd ask on the board.
We do media training videos with a Sony DSW500 because it has a firewire output that I can run right into a DVD recorder. Giving my client the DVD's after the training session.
We always keep a copy of the DVCAM tape in the office incase someone needs another copy made. We recently thought about using our HPX 500 with the P2 cards, and then just copying the P2 footage to a hard drive for our files.
The problem is in the field. It seems like the only time the firewire out of the HPX works is when we are in PC mode. Is there an internal menu I might be missing where I can have the output of the firewire send the live feed into my DVD recorder? This would be a great savings in tape stock!
I have already thought about using the RCA out's or even an advc 55 converter, the reason we like the Sony cam is because we can use 1 long firewire cable to attach to the recorder and not use a mess of cables.
