.dv file with Firestore transfer

We were trying to transfer our footage from the Firestore FS - 100 (shot with the HVX) into our Final Cut. The DOP said the he saved the footage as DVCproHD files (which we wanted) and was able to view the footage back on the camera flip monitor after it was shot.

However, when we opened it up in Final Cut they were saved as .dv files and all the footage was snowy pixelated random colors.

What should we do? Also, we are backing it up on an external and into the desktop. Is it safe if we then erase it from our Firestore?

Thanks!

I believe what you have there is a RAW DV file, something that doesn't appear to be supported by FCP or most other NLEs. Your best bet for getting the footage into FCP is to play the material on the FS-100 and capture the output in FCP.

Once you have the material on the Mac (preferably backed up on a second drive), it should be safe to erase the FS-100.

Can you play back and capture on the Firestore?
I'm not sure what you mean by that. The Firestore can capture various video formats, but what would you use as the source?

In order to solve this, I would copy the RAW DV back to the FS-100, and play it on it, and at the same time capture the FS-100 output through FCP.
