duplicating tapes

I have just finished looking at everything I shot on my France doc, and am ready to begin editing. Before I do that I want to make a copy (clone) all the tapes. I don't have a deck. Just my camera, computer, and Final Cut Pro 4. How can I do this? Thanks.

Re: duplicating tapes

The best way would be to borrow a friends camera and hook them together, playing out on one and record on the other. Or rent a deck for a day to copy your tapes from camera to deck.

Other than that the easiest way would be to "Capture Now" a complete tape, drop that file into a sequence and print it back out to tape. But then if you've gone to the trouble of capturing, why then be worried about making a copy of your tape. You should make a copy before you ever capture if your concerned about preserving your original tape.

Exactly. One of the great things about DV cameras is that they can make digital clones of the tapes. The best/easiest way is to get another camera (any firewire camera will do) and plug 'em together and just dupe it.

Re: duplicating tapes

I had to make a copy one time and didn't have another camera, so I ended up having to capture it all to final cut and then playing it back to another tape in my camcorder.
