Duplicating 24p Advanced tapes

I recently shot some doc footage at 24p advanced with a friend's DVX 100. He is in another city and I have the tapes in my possession. I need to make dupes for yet another player in the process but don't have access to a DVX100. I need to convert the tapes to regular dvcam. Can I use any mini dv cam/deck to make these and maintain 24p? I'm assuming that because it's digital and I'll be using firewire to transfer that it's just seeing and copying a "file" and not doing any conversion during the process. Can someone with experience doing this give me some advice. Thanks.

lone_lobo,

I have a similar question posted here - http://www.dvxuser.com/cgi-bin/DVX2/YaBB.pl?board=Events;action=display;num=1091744404

If you need to record to DVCam then you must use a DVCam deck as DVCam records the information to tape just a little bit differently than mini-DV. DVCam has a wider track pitch and employs locked audio. However, it is not possible to send video data via firewire from a mini-DV deck to a DVCam deck because of the aforementioned pecularities of DVCam.

Somebody please double check me here, but I think that is correct.

Whatever you do, be sure the recording deck is set to NonDropframe timecode to preserve the 24P Adv cadence.
